The State of Caring in Hertfordshire 2018: Survey Findings

We carried out a survey with carers about the State of Caring in Hertfordshire between January and March 2018.1 ,434 carers responded to the survey and some of the findings included:

• Two in five carers have neglected their own health because of their caring responsibilities and one in five carers have missed a health appointment;
• One third of carers responding to the survey said they have struggled financially and a fifth said their health is affected by money worries; and
• 80% of the 1,282 carers completing the questions about work and caring said they had changed their work pattern to care, with 29% giving up work to care full-time.

Through our services such as our Carer Information and Planning Service and our involvement work, we aim to work with carers to ensure they have access to the help they need to make their caring role easier and improve their health and wellbeing.

We use information such as these findings to plan our services and to share with other partners and services in Hertfordshire in order to highlight the needs and views of carers.
