Carers in Hertfordshire is committed to promoting the welfare and wellbeing of the children, young people, and vulnerable adults we provide services and support to. Read our Safeguarding Statement here.

Carers in Hertfordshire is committed to promoting the welfare and wellbeing of the children, young people, and vulnerable adults we provide services and support to. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Adults at Risk and Child Safeguarding Policies. Our Adult Safeguarding Policy is in accordance with the Care Act 2014 and both our adult and children’s policies in line with Hertfordshire’s Safeguarding Boards.

The policies inform individuals within Carers in Hertfordshire:

  • What abuse is and how to spot it;
  • The process of reporting concerns as soon as abuse or safeguarding concerns are suspected or identified, and
  • How reports are followed up.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child or adult’s welfare. When sharing information we respect data protection.

If we have a safeguarding concern and need to share information about you or a child or young person, we will try and advise you or the parent/guardian of the young person. However, if it is believed the matter is serious or a criminal offence then information will be shared with or without consent.

We are committed to respecting confidentiality and the information you share with us. However, the safety of adults or children is of paramount concern and overrides the confidentiality of information.

We require Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks to be carried out on all Carers in Hertfordshire staff and volunteers. We also provide Safeguarding training to staff and volunteers.
