Volunteer Vacancies

We are currently looking to fill the following volunteer roles. Information and Carer Planning Service (ICPS) Volunteers - Based in our offices in Borehamwood and Hertford)

Keeping in Touch Service Volunteers: You will make regular phone calls to carers who feel isolated and have requested a monthly Keep in Touch call. You will phone carers to find out how they are and update them on anything we are doing relevant to them such as courses, speakers at Hubs, new services or changes to existing ones, or other activities. If they need further support you will refer them to the Carer Support Advisors. This role is based at our Borehamwood office and we are looking for cover on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Carers' Passport and Call Back Team Volunteers: The Carers' Passport Team processes and fulfils requests for our Carers' Passport Discount Card and renewing cards, as they are valid for three years. There are a range of tasks such as checking information supplied on application forms, processing forms, printing the Carers' Passport Photo ID Card and contacting carers to check details or register them. The Call Back Team can help with the Carers' Passport, but also contact carers that have been referred from professionals such as GPs to explain the services Carers in Hertfordshire provides and complete registrations for carers not already known to the charity. The roles are based in our Hertford office and we are looking for cover on Mondays to Wednesdays and Fridays.

We are looking for people available between 9.30am and 4pm for all the roles and we ask you to commit to at least one shift of four hours a week. You should have good communication and IT skills and be able to listen and communicate sensitively.

Carer Support Hub Group Leaders and Helpers

We run 16 Carer Support Hub Groups across Hertfordshire which meet once a month at regular times. We are looking for new Leaders to run our groups in Letchworth, Royston and Watford. We are looking for confident people who like working in teams and have an understanding of caring. Good communication skills are important. We would also welcome volunteers to help make drinks or greet carers at the Hub meetings.

Volunteer Opportunities in the Borehamwood area

We have several vacancies in the Borehamwood area.
We need a volunteer to support our carers with getting on and off of a minibus to and from our monthly group at Aldenham School as well as helping at the meetings. A free hot lunch will be provided at the meetings.
We also need volunteers to help run our lunch and activities club that meets Monday to Friday in Borehamwood for the over 60s, and also support at a monthly carers' group in Borehamwood.
In addition, we need volunteers to support our office in Borehamwood with administration and on the reception.

Forum Support and Note Taker

If you are looking to gain experience in taking notes and providing support at meetings and events then this is a great role to apply for. Our Forums mainly take place in Hatfield on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, throughout the year. Occasional visits to the office in Hertford may be needed.
