TV Producer and former carer Simon Lythgoe, son of choreographer and TV talent show judge Nigel Lythgoe - of Popstars fame – has hailed his first London Marathon as incredible but tough.

Simon, who grew up near Potters Bar and currently lives in Hertfordshire, was our first charity place runner in the event on Sunday 3rd October 2021. He completed the 26.2 mile course in just over six hours.

Simon said: “It was an incredible race. I wanted to quit many times, but the crowds were amazing and cheered me on. I’m so pleased I did it and have supported Carers in Hertfordshire and unpaid carers in the process.

However, he has vowed this was his third and final marathon as they are hard on the body. He has previously completed the Berlin and LA marathons.

Father-of-three Simon helped care for his grandparents when he was younger. He lived with his grandmother in Broxbourne for a while and would take her to health appointments and cook for them.

Simon, 46, whose career credits include TV classics like The Royal Variety Performance,, Blind Date, American Idol, Gladiators in several countries including the UK and Australia and Home and Away, has raised an incredible amount so far, over £4,700, including Gift Aid. You may still be able to make a donation to boost his total and support our work with carers if you wish at
