Taking care of you

Carers in Hertfordshire aims to help carers take better care of themselves through breaks, leisure and learning opportunities and by ensuring they focus on their own health and wellbeing.
Supporting carers to look after their own physical and emotional wellbeing is very important to us.
Welcome to the Carers Development and Learning Service where we hope you will find a workshop or course tailored to your needs. Since mid-March 2020 when restrictions related to the COVID-19 outbreak preventing or limiting face to face events were introduced, we have produced some online workshops and suggestions about activities you can do at home (some with the person you care for). You can find these on our web page about activities to do at home during the coronavirus situation - activity ideas page.
What is it? A series of FREE sessions covering all aspects of the caring role ranging from maximising your income as a carer to taking time to look after your own health and wellbeing. You can find out more about the course in our Caring with Confidence leaflet here. The Caring with Confidence courses have been well received by carers.
Having a break away from caring is vital for carers. Carers who have regular breaks are more likely to be able to care for longer and stay fitter and healthier.
Carers have told us how important it is to have a life of their own as well as caring for someone.
