Power Of Music – Music in Herts Dementia

Tuesday 12th August, 10.30am - 12.30pm The Power of Music – Music in Herts Dementia Care project aims to increase the access of personalised music experiences for individuals with dementia through upskilling staff working in care home and community settings. The project is designed to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia (PLWD) by integrating music into their care routines, considering their musical preferences, histories and cultural backgrounds. The primary objectives of the project are: Improve the lives of people living with dementia (PLWD) by integrating music into their care. Train Music in Herts Dementia Care Champions to use therapeutic music techniques effectively. Create an ‘Recognition’ process for care services to support internal sustainability and have an established list if committed providers to embed Power of Music – Music in Herts Dementia Care.  Establish a Centre of Excellence for Music and Dementia in Hertfordshire.

      We will be discussing the following –

      • Wording and format of resident/ staff questionnaires
      • Practical workflows for data gathering during busy care shifts
      • Ensuring consent and assent processes are straightforward
