New support group for family and friend carers in Hitchin and North Herts

We are launching a new support group for unpaid family and friend carers in Hitchin this August, offering a welcoming space to connect over a cuppa, share tips and experiences, and find support close to home. If you look after a relative, partner or friend, who is elderly, disabled, or living with a physical or mental illness, you are warmly invited to attend.

The first meeting of the Hitchin Carers Support Hub takes place on Monday 4th August 2025, 1pm – 2.30pm, at Christchurch, Bedford Road, Hitchin. The group will then meet on the first Monday of each month (except bank holidays) at the same time and venue.

At the launch meeting carers can learn more about our Hub groups and topics, speakers, or activities for future sessions. They can also enjoy time to chat over tea or coffee.

The group has been made possible thanks to funding from North Herts Council and the Garfield Weston Foundation.

Nicki Bird, Volunteer Manager at Carers in Hertfordshire, said: “When carers come together in their own communities, they realise they are not alone. That shared understanding and support can have a positive impact on their lives.

This will be our eighteenth area-based group, and we look forwarding to welcoming local carers to the friendly, informal meetings.”

To attend the launch or future sessions, please book a place.
