Support available from Hertfordshire's voluntary & community organisations this festive season & during tier 4 coronavirus restrictions

Hertfordshire's community and voluntary sector organisations, including us, are continuing providing their services over the Christmas and New Year period and during the coronavirus tier 4 restrictions in Hertfordshire. Here are details of some organisations in the county and their offer.

HertsHelp: COVID-19 Information and Advice & Crisis Intervention
HertsHelp is the principle contact point for support and signposting.

HertsHelp will be open 10am-4pm from 26th December to 4th January including weekends but is closed on bank holidays.
HertsHelp can make referrals to a range of services including the Hospital and Community Navigation Service, Hertswise dementia support and advocacy support.

Meals on Wheels/Emergency Food Parcels from Hertfordshire Independent Living Service (HILS)
Community meals are provided by Herts Independent Living Service (HILS) who are open every day including bank holidays from 8am to 3pm.
HILS can provide long or short-term support to qualifying residents such as people who have been discharged from hospital that need short-term meals or residents who require longer term assistance due to ongoing conditions.
Meals are delivered hot and ready to eat between 11:30am and 2:30pm.

(Any emergency requests received before 9.30am on Bank Holidays including Christmas Day will receive a meal that day. The team will need to know if anyone has any allergies and also their address for service.)

Specialist Benefits & Debt Advice from Citizens Advice Services
The Citizens Advice service in each district are available 29th to 31st December 2020 with differing opening hours. They can all be contacted on 03444 111 444.

Mental Health – various services
For advice with mental health Mind in Mid Herts services are open as normal except for bank holidays and weekends via 03303 208100.

Herts Mind Network services are closed on bank holidays but otherwise open as normal via 0844 477 2212.

Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust’s Single Point of Access (SPA) Mental Health Helpline is open to Herts residents of all ages, including service users, carers, GPs and other professionals 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The team can provide advice and support for Herts residents who are experiencing a mental health crisis, need some mental health support or just want to talk on Freephone: 0800 6444 101

Samaritans
Helpline number is 116123 – 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Between the 3 branches (South West Herts, Ware and Hitchin) there is 24 -7 coverage over Christmas.

Carers  - We, Carers in Hertfordshire, will be open on weekdays 9am - 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9am – 4.30pm on Fridays, except for bank holidays.
