C4A (Adults with Autism) Forum (Online)

Our C4A Forums are part of the work of the Involvement Team, they give you as carers the chance to talk about the help you and your family need and to make sure other organisations hear what they have to say. We are pleased to announce we have Nicola Ponikiewski as our guest speaker from Hertfordshire Police Service.

Nicola is an analyst in the Learning and Insight Team working on the Constabulary’s feedback, 'echo'. Ensuring the force learns from and, acts on the experiences of its callers, communities and victims of crime and non-crime. However, in addition to her analyst role she is the force autism lead and force co-ordinator for the National Police Autism Association; providing autism awareness sessions to police officers and staff and working with partners including the Hertfordshire All Age Autism Partnership Board.

Nicola will talk about her role within the Police and the alert card scheme and how it can help people with autism who may be vulnerable and come into contact with Police Officers. Additionally, Nicola will let us know about any new initiatives concerning Autism which may be of interest to carers.

Transport Guidance

Following consultation with carers, Carers in Hertfordshire have updated their policy on offering transport to their events. Carers told us we should not be spending more than £50 a journey for an individual, so we will be using this guidance in the future when considering transport options. We are happy to reimburse expenses incurred for using public transport to travel to an event.
