General Election Hustings for Carers (with the Welwyn Hatfield candidates)

We have organised a General Election Hustings for unpaid family carers who live in the Welwyn Hatfield constituency. The Carers’ Hustings will take place on Thursday 5th December 2019, from 10.30am – 12.30pm, at the Birchwood Sports and Leisure Centre, Hatfield. All the candidates are due to attend – Rosie Newbigging (Labour), Oliver Sayers (Green Party) Grant Shapps (Conservative), and Paul Zukowskyj (Liberal Democrats). Andy Holmes, Political Reporter at BBC 3 Counties Radio, will also be there to help us chair the event.

Coffee will be available from 10.15am and the Hustings will start at 10.30am. Each candidate will talk for about 5 minutes about their party’s policy in respect of carers and caring, health and social care. This will be followed by a Q&A session and a light sandwich lunch at 12.30pm to which the candidates are invited.

We hope for a good turnout from local carers as we want to make sure that all the political parties are aware of the needs of local carers and the contribution that you all make.

If you have a question or questions you would like to put to the candidates please email us (email address below) what you would like to ask in advance so we can identify themes and make sure as many as possible are covered.

Registration Open Date/Time December 05, 10:30 until December 05, 12:30

Transport Guidance

Following consultation with carers, Carers in Hertfordshire have updated their policy on offering transport to their events. Carers told us we should not be spending more than £50 a journey for an individual, so we will be using this guidance in the future when considering transport options. We are happy to reimburse expenses incurred for using public transport to travel to an event.
