    Wednesday 13th March 2024, 11am to 1pm – with a light lunch at 12.30pm.

Carers need to be able to get in touch with their doctor’s surgery quickly and easily. While this works well for some carers – others often tell us that they find it difficult to make an appointment. Carers in Hertfordshire has raised this concern with the Herts and West Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB).  The ICB is responsible for arranging the provision of our local health services – it is part of the NHS.

The ICB wants to work with Carers in Hertfordshire to understand carers’ experiences of getting support from their GP and from the other healthcare professionals who work alongside them. They want the chance to listen to your feedback so they can share and promote good practice across the county.  They want to make it easier for carers to get the help they need.

As well as hearing directly from carers during the event, the ICB will talk about some of the changes that general practices have been making to better meet the needs of carers. There are now a number of different health and care professionals at your local surgery to support patients. These include physiotherapists, paramedics and social prescribers who could be better placed to help carers quickly. The ICB will also tell us about the range of conditions and illnesses that community pharmacies can now diagnose and treat, which should help us all to get help and treatment quickly without needing to see a doctor.

These sessions are a real opportunity to feedback your experiences and also find out more about the changes that are taking place.  We need to makes sure that these work for carers – so come along and join the conversation.

This meeting is also being held in Letchworth on Friday 15th March 2024please only attend one.
