  • Assertiveness study days
  • Reading Groups
  • Parenting an Additional Needs Child

Carers are encouraged to develop new skills and improve their confidence as well as meet new people and make friends in small learning groups open to carers who want to make some changes in their lives.

What do carers think?

Personal Development

'The course was very energizing, it was well worth the time and has taken me from 'being a victim of my circumstances' to realizing it's in my hands to be more positive and make a difference to my own life".

"A positive, feel good program, that made me, laugh, cry but move on with positive feelings".

'"I've just given a talk about being a carer to 500 people at a black tie event in London! I feel that the recent course was a contributory factor in me being able to achieve this!".

Computing

"I'm enormously grateful although prone to quite a few mistakes still, I'm e mailing friends and relatives- and getting replies. I'm also typing and printing letters and documents. I really never believed it was possible".

"Everything about the course was perfect, the attitude of the tutors, plus the fellow students were a joyful crew. How I loved Friday mornings".

Assertiveness

"It was brilliant, brilliant, thank you so much for telling me about it and putting me on the list. It's the first time I have been on something like this, it was fantastic, great fun, and we all had a chance to take part. I definitely benefited from attending, I feel more assertive. I can honestly say I will not be trodden on anymore. I left feeling happy and relaxed. My only complaint is it finished too soon".

In some cases we are able to help with the cost of transport to an event or offer support with alternative care provision.

All Carers Development and Learning events can be found on the events calendar and are free to carers registered with the service:  Please contact us to register or for more details.
