We are setting up the last of our Carer Support Hub groups that are supported with a grant from the Big Lottery Fund. One will be in Royston and the other in Harpenden.

Carers value support from each other and time away from caring and the Hubs are free groups that give unpaid carers the chance to meet up, share tips about caring and find out about support available locally to them.

Our Harpenden Carers Support Hub will meet for the first time on Thursday 15th November 2018 at St John's Church, 5 St John's Road, Harpenden, AL5 1DJ. The group will meet from 10am to 12pm noon. The group will meet on the third Thursday of the month at the same times, but this venue is temporary for November and December 2018. We will keep you updated about the permanent venue.

Before that our we will hold a Launch and Information Event to promote our sixteenth and final Hub that is supported with our lottery grant. The Hub will be set up in Royston and the event takes place on Thursday 8th November 2018 at Royston Town Hall, Melbourn Street, from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

At the event carers will be able to enjoy a gentle, chair based yoga and relaxation session led by a yoga teacher. There will also be a chance to discuss what support they would find useful from a hub.

Alex Daar, Projects Officer Caring Communities at charity Carers in Hertfordshire, explained: “Hubs are run by volunteers for carers with support from Carers in Hertfordshire. They give carers the chance to meet up and socialise, share views, and find out what help is available locally. Hubs meet regularly and provide carers with an opportunity to keep updated on issues and services affecting them.”

To book a place at the event on November 8th please email or call 01992 58 69 69.
Please also get in touch if you are a carer and cannot make it to the event but are interested in learning more about the support available for you or if you want to get involved in the Hub.
