Some 32 teams of golfers enjoyed the sunshine and a round of golf when they supported Chesfield Downs Golf and Country Club Seniors Section's Charity Day.
The Club’s Senior Section Captain Brian Feaver has chosen to support Carers in Hertfordshire while he is Captain this year. Thanks to the generosity of the golfers the Section raised around £5,400 from a Golf Day held at the end of June and we are set to receive half, with the rest going to the Alzheimer’s Society.
Funds were boosted by a further £34 as golfers bought some of the cards and fundraising items we had on sale.
In the glorious sunshine 126 golfers enjoyed an 18-hole round of golf followed by a two-course carvery lunch.
Brian said: “It was an excellent day and I’m delighted with the support we received for Carers in Hertfordshire. Thank you everyone for your generosity of time, money and for making the day a success.”
He added: “I decided to support Carers in Hertfordshire because when I found out about the free advice and services they give to children and adults who provide care to someone who is ill, disabled or elderly it seemed the perfect fit for the Club. Some of our golfers care for a loved one so it’s great we can do something to make a difference to support a charity that can help them and other carers when they need it.”
Linda Cudmore, our Community Fundraising Lead, said: “The Captain’s Golf Day was brilliant and I’d like to thank Brian and Chesfield Downs Golf and Country Club Seniors Section for their support. We depend on the generosity of the community to help us ensure we have the money needed to continue identifying and helping unpaid family and friend carers.”
