It’s a joint initiative from carers, Carers in Hertfordshire and Hertfordshire County Council Health and Community Services and many other organisations supporting carers, which aims to make this county a good place to be if you are a carer.
The document outlines the pledges made by the organisations who have signed up to the Hertfordshire Carers’ Strategy to recognise and value carers in a number of ways including:
- Having a life outside of caring.
- Accessing the benefits to which they are entitled.
- Making sure they consider their own health and wellbeing.
- Getting good quality information and effective signposting to specialist services designed to support them.
There are many organisations supporting carers and lots of help is out there, but many carers are unaware they are carers. The Hertfordshire Carers' Passport has been developed to make sure these people get the recognition they deserve.
The Passport is also there to provide reassurance when things don’t go to plan, it’s a great way to remind service providers of their commitment to supporting carers and the people they care for.
Carers in Hertfordshire will be working alongside carers and other organisations to ensure that the Passport is working for carers. When things aren’t going well – they will make sure that the concerns of carers are raised with the appropriate people.
If you are a professional and you can find out more about how the Hertfordshire Carers' Passport can work for here.
