Making your Gifts Tax Efficient

Providing you pay income tax, all your donations can be treated under the Gift Aid Scheme.  This means for every £1 that you donate, Carers in Hertfordshire can claim an additional 28 pence from the taxman.  Also, if you are a higher tax payer, you will also be able to claim tax relief for the difference between the lower and higher tax rates.  It is only necessary to sign one form to cover all donations and this will remain in force until you notify us that you would like to cancel it.

Please contact us to obtain a Gift Aid Form or you can download a form by clicking on the link below.

Payroll Giving

You can also support us by contributing directly through your payroll.  Donations are deducted at source (before tax) which means that every pound pledged is worth more than its face value.  See www.payrollgiving.co.uk for more information.

Regular Giving by Banker's Order

You can also make a regular donation by banker's order.  Carers in Hertfordshire would appreciate such regular support which could provide a steady source of income and help us plan for the future.  Signing a gift aid declaration will allow us to recover the basic tax that has been paid on this and all future amounts.

Please contact us to obtain a Standing Order Form or you can download a form by clicking on the link below.

Remembering Carers in Hertfordshire in your Will

If you are making or renewing your will, please remember Carers in Hertfordshire.  Your legacy could make a real difference for years to come.  You may wish to consider either:

A residuary legacy - which means you leave Carers in Hertfordshire all or part of your estate once other gifts to family and friends have been distributed, or
A pecuniary legacy - which is a fixed sum of money.

If you wish to include a legacy in your will, you or your solicitors will find the document below helpful.

Legacy Information

Why Leave a Will?

To provide for your loved ones.
Anything left to your spouse is free of inheritance tax.
To ensure that your possessions and property will be distributed as you wish.
If you do not leave a will your widow or widower may not receive your whole estate - any other partner may receive nothing without going to court.
If you have no next of kind, everything may go to the State.
Your estate may be worth more than you think.
To help your favourite cause.
Inheritance tax is not payable on gifts to charities.
It's not expensive.
Many lawyers charge a flat fee for making a straightforward will or adding a codicil to an existing will to include an additional bequest.
