Developing Special Provision Locally

Hertfordshire County Council want to make improvements for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Their vision is for all children and young people to have their needs well met as near home as possible, so that they can be included in all that is available locally and helped to reach their full potential.

Hertfordshire County Council want each community of schools, children’s centres, colleges and other providers to be responsible for all children and young people in their community. Each community should have a range of provision, support services and resources available locally.

A project is underway to develop and enhance  special educational provision for all special needs children and young people, with a focus on high quality, cost effective local provision.

Proposals for the strategic direction for local SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) provision in Hertfordshire are being developed and a formal consultation period to seek views from all those with an interest in this provision will take place from March until the end of May 2010.
