Aiming High

During Autumn 2009 Children Schools and Families (CSF) completed a consultation on “Aiming High” with parent carers about proposals to develop local short breaks for disabled children and their families.

Short breaks include, after school clubs, holiday play schemes, shared care, overnight respite, sitting services and direct payments.

This is developing further the findings in the "Short Breaks Review" that was carried out in 2007 by Carers in Hertfordshire at the request of CSF.

The Parent Carer Involvement Board at the end of November 2009 submitted their response to the Aiming High for Disabled Children consultation.  (Read the response...)

CSF looked at all the comments made in response to the consultation and put together proposals for improvements in short breaks. These proposals were put to the County Councillors cabinet meeting on February 15th and were approved.

The final report is now available:  Click here to read it.

Parents are invited to participate in the development of all these new initiatives. If you are interested in giving your views on how these new services should be developed then please contact us.
